Trash Talk - Boot.ini?

Post subject: Boot.ini?
I have recently installed a new HD and it is now the boot drive.
The old one is still connected and retains the old windows.
If I were to pop the case and replace their seats it would boot off the old one without a problem.
But I am a lazy bastard and it'll take longer than the five second attention span I have to do so.
Howevert, I require certain keys off the old registery yet I cannot simply paste over the old registery core files on the new install as we all know what that would cause.
Thus my query is so: could I modify the boot.ini parameters in that line which appears to so obviously designate where to boot win off of or should I just swap the HDs?

Code: Show/Hide

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Even easier tell your bios to boot from the other drive...

If the bios considered it as a bootable it would've already been executed.

no, the bios only ever tries to boot of one disk drive or the other. You need to set one to be the primary drive. At least that is the case in the Intel bios i have used.
