LVZ/LVL Questions - Coloring help Zeke - Sat Apr 12, 2003 10:24 pm Post subject: Coloring help
Ok, I need some help. I've got two images perfect for putting on as a map object for a zone. The problem is, CTM won't recongize 24 bit color, and my computer doesn't support 32-bit, so, the next logical way to go, is 16-bit, or 8-bit. But none of my imaging programs supports that (Irfan and MSPaint). So what can I do? 256 colors won't do at all... help?!

Ctm WILL use 24 bit color bmps, it will just convert them down to 8 bit, and they will take up more space then they could.

can i have specs of your computer Zeke?

If it goes down to 8-bit, I lose too much quality. My computer's a 1995 IBM, 200 Pent MMX, 64 megs memory, with only 300 mbs of space left. I got it for free, and I'm poor, so shove the whole "upgrade" thing

...use bitmaps...
why use gifs...theres no purpose and they also take up more space...and plus its not like you want transparency with it... Zeke - Mon Apr 14, 2003 2:56 pm Post subject:
Well, the problem I have with it being a bitmap, is my machine will only let me resave it at 24-bit, or 256 colors... there's no inbetween here... I need help to figure out how to make it either into 8 or 16 bit....

I couldn't tell, I resaved a 24 bit bitmap at 1.7 megs to a 150k gif file at 8-bit.

Oh, I just reread your original post, and I thought you were talking about .37. I really have no idea how .38 handles 24-bit.
rahXephon - Mon Apr 14, 2003 4:19 pm Post subject:
My error It depends on How big the size the image of the bmp/gif is..

dude, I'm pretty confused, but just email me your 24 bit image and I will change it to whatever the hell you want - akai@ssxh.netMine GO BOOM - Mon Apr 14, 2003 11:03 pm Post subject:
In windows mode, continuum will use whatever Color type your desktop is set to. In full screen mode, i believe .38 will now use whatever your desktop is set to instead of forcing it to 8bit. So yes, you should be able to use 24-bit without losing quality.

I am using 24 bit .... saving them as jpegs ... and losing quality. Why?
Same thing happens as .bmps and .gifs ... I don't know what to do!
SuSE - Tue Jul 08, 2003 6:11 am Post subject:
in photoshop, when you save you can select a quality between like 1 and 12, below 5 or 6 it starts to get ugly

why do u want a GIF? Continuum totally doesnt recognize gifs. Atleast mine doesnt.
SuSE - Thu Jul 10, 2003 8:02 am Post subject:
Continuum totally does recognize .gif's (eg. file=ships.gif)
