Post subject: srs question: Flash Games and bandwidth
So, I'm looking to pay some artists and someone fluent in flash to set up a simple game on the site for my webcomic when it goes up, but I want to know how much bandwidth am I looking at loosing with the game.

Is it like with 99.5% of internet downloads, and placed in a temp folder, then loads from it the rest of the time you enter the site, or does it automatically load from the site everytime?

Depends on how it is programmed. I'm assuming what you are asking is does the browser cache the flash file? Yes, unless told otherwise. So it is a one-time download, and all other times it is read from the browser's cache, if they still have it.

As for how much bandwidth, depends on the file size. Can be a couple thousand bytes to a couple of megs pretty easily.

Hrm. Thats what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. Have a webcomic going up in the next couple of weeks, got the artist working on the character studies right now before I sign off on them, and I wanted to try and find someone with some experience to do a Flash game for me.

I'll be paying, obviously, but it'll still be a month or two off before I get started on it. Already talked to some other artists I know, and like, about doing the sprites.

it loads the preloader every time,
which then stores data on your computer

the files are treated like cookies

Thats what I thought, I just was unsure of how much was stored. I know it has to be a decent amount or Adventure Quest/MechQuest/Dragon Fable would never survive.
