It's kinda hard to renew the domain when you're stuck in Korea...

Auto-renew? Not register through a shit company that's so quick to turn your site into a squatting page?

I dunno, those all seem like valid options to me.
SyrusMX - Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:02 pm
Post subject:
I never auto renew, and most registars give a 25 day grace period, where even though there's a squatter page, the domain is still retrievable.

Regardless, what's so hard about renewing from Korea? Does he not have a credit card anymore?
PoLiX - Sun Sep 02, 2007 9:39 pm

The exact reason when he offered to sell me it, I finally said yes, and than he backed out when I made an offer.

He doesn't play nor want anything to do with SS anymore, so renewing it isn't his top priority.

I've sent him an e-mail, and message via Myspace. If nothing by tomorrow, I'll call his Wife and ask her to tell him next time she talks to him if she can remember.

I use to have the login info for the dns, but the password changed again on him, and he didn't ever do a retrieve before he left for Korea... So I am powerless to do anything, sorry guys.

Yet more reasons I keep Server Help independent of everyone else in Subspace.

Its still retrievable, no? Hence the link in the upper right corner. It redirects to some webhosting company, leading me to believe it can still be renewed if the powers that be want to renew it.

The powers to be aint around to renew it. Worst case we can put bids in for when it finally does expire we can snatch it before some other domain sitter does.

I think he has until October 1st to renew it

Unfortunately it's still mapped to forums.sscentral.com so ssforum.net doesn't work completely (yet).

Add
Code: Show/Hide
69.16.192.211         www.ssforum.net
69.16.192.211         ssforum.net

to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (windows xp)
Make sure to comment / remove this if the domain name works again.

http://host.subspacedownloads.com/~ssforum/ works to, but you will have to change the link of every page you visit since invision seems to be using direct links

If you don't register with GoDaddy you're asking to lose your domain.

I'm actually looking to get away from them. A couple of idiots sending emails to godaddy saying you are a spammer/phishing and they'll pull your DNS and charge you money to reinstate, even if you did nothing wrong.
