1) http://www.jackpotsvs.com/files/ServerKit-Full.exe
2) http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/ExprmntMaxLVZ.zip
3) Install ServerKit-Full.exe somewhere (anywhere)
4) Extract the contents of ExprmntMaxLVZ.zip to the root of the ServerKit installation
5) Run ssbilling2.exe
6) Run subgame2.exe
7) Add the zone 127.0.0.1:27015 to your Continuum zone list
8) Connect
9) Fly to center of map

Now the purpose of this test is to try load 40 LVZ files. For each LVZ file that successfully loads, it will display its lvzX.lvz (X is the..) number. If it doesn't load, it will leave empty boxes in the center status panel.

It seems to load 16. I have not tried doing this yet, but renaming a few of the first 16 *.lvz files to something shorter (like X.lvz) hoping I could load more. Isn't there a maximum number of characters you could input into LevelFiles of the settings file?

Besides that, what is the maximum filesize (and the total maximum filesize) of LVZ files you can have and download through Subgame?
4MB (filesize per LVZ) and 16MB (total filesize)?

I don't know how much I can help with this BUT there is a maximum length of levelFiles in the settings file, ("note: there is a max length to the length of the line, and a max of 15 characters per filename.", http://cypherjf.sscentral.com/articles/lvz-addendum/). However, I didn't determine the max length of the line. I just remember when I manually typed in the command to set the value of the config in OF, it kept getting chopped off causing LVZ errors in subgame.

I don't believe there is a maximum total size... I don't see why there would be any... but you definitly can't download any file larger than 4MB

Are you sure about that with ASSS?

I don't know about ASSS' limits

Just out of curiosity what program did you use to generate those .lvz files?

Edit:
After some testing subgame2 will read as many lvz files as it can (the setting's value can be up to 254 characters long). However subgame2 only sends the first 16 lvz.

Additionally attempting to send more than 16 lvz will cause cont to become stuck at "Downloading 0%". You can still recover by typing ?go or pressing esc.

Edit2:
There should be no need to rename lvz shorter in order to fit more in. You should only be using filenames up to 15 characters long otherwise cont will have problems saving/reading lvz. Now 15+1 (1 for comma) makes 16, so 16 * 16 - 1 (no trailing comma) = 255. So looks like only 1 file needs to sacrifice 1 character in order to fit everything in. Of course if you want optional lvz that's going to take more characters.

Notepad, Paint and Photoshop (for Indexed GIF Compression), and the LVZ Compiler.

8 (characters per file including .lvz)*16 (number that loaded)=128+15 (commas)=143 total characters in LevelFiles.
Then how come it will only load 16? I even copied all 40 LVZ files into the proper /zones/ folder and it still only loads 16.

Do I put LVZM0.lvz or LVZM0?

Sounds like a continuum limitation.

try renaming them to shorter names, see if it will load more

Renaming them to #.lvz did not change anything. Only loaded 16.

I have all the LVZ files (including #.lvz renames) in the proper /zones/ folder, and even in (Public) folder in the proper /zones/ folder.

BTW to send more than 16 lvz use asss, I filed a bug for this though, since under cont it's pointless.

By "LVZ Compiler" I assume you mean k0 zy's CLC?

MakeLevel unfortunately refuses to compile this because it thinks the last line has incorrect syntaxing. Heh. Bob Dole.. Bob Dole... Bob Dole...... bob dole.... bob... dole....'s CLC was able to compile it just fine. icon_smile.gif

I think the problem is with this line, there shouldn't be a plus sign (+) there.
Code: Show/Hide
80,C+20,IMAGE1,AfterGauges,ServerControlled,38720,6501

I think various debuildlevel programs/scripts insert these plus signs.

Also I think CLC is bugged, I'm posting in its thread explaining the details.

I guess that one is my fault. Buildlevel 0.37 accepted +'s, Buildlevel 0.38 doesn't.

I fixed it for the built in php script for LVZ attachments, but too lazy to even try and get people to update the lvztoolkits that are scattered all over the internet, so not even bothering to update that.
