Post subject: Adding comps to remote desktop for XP
well I hate getting up to go to the other room to do something on computer and wanted to enable remote desktop win xp pro has on my wireless network in my home.

However when I browse comptuers in the remote desktop settings and double click on WORKGROUP I get a error saying:
Quote:

The work group domain/work group does not contain any terminal servers

So I guess my question is how to I install a terminal server on WinXP?

For any computer you want to be able to connect to, go to System on the control panel for that computer and make sure this is enabled:

I use TightVNC for any system except Vista, because Vista doesn't like VNC very much right now (due to their safety methods of not letting applications click on the security dialogs for you).

What if you cannot see anything other then "remote assistance" ?

2 Of my comps are half assed networked. By this I mean we have a shared folder and what not.

That's because you have XP home. The computer you want to connect to with Remove Desktop needs to have XP pro.
if you have a shared folder, your network is probably fine... only thing to check would be to make sure you're on the same workgroup... and then you should be networked without a problem...

I'm angry now.
That song is a New Order song, and it shouldn't be anyone else's.

Was just about to say the same thing -- and I don't like New Order any more than I like Orgy.
