Post subject: setting up a server problem
just laying about and tried to set up a zone on my PC for the sake of it.

followed shanky and now i have subgame and subbil connected, my zone appear in the directory servers but i cannot connect to it at all. it appears in my zone list as a down zone.

if i enter it manually at ip 127.0.0.1 in continuum i can connect so it all seems to be ok locally.

what is the problem? could it be my ISP directing me through a proxy server or is it something else?

thanks

I would call it normal behaviour that you can only connect using 127.0.0.1. The real test is getting someone outside your house to try and connect to it.

Fire up cont, press ctrl+z then alt+c. For zone name put anything, for IP put 127.0.0.1 for port use the one from server.ini [Misc] Port.

If your behind a firewall that will happen. Try port forwarding. If your zone port is 5000 open ports 5000 and 5001.
