My biller doesn't save the player's scores in the dat files provided (scores, users, squads). It doesnt save them anywhere.

Type the following in-game:
Code: Show/Hide
?write

If it fails, that means you are using the older version of SubBill. In this case you can't do much but wait until write time comes around (can be set in subbill.ini)

Wouldn't you also have to login?

i tried the ?write when i was logged in as sysop but it didn't do anything. The dat files are still empty...

Logged in as zone sysop, or billing sysop? Billing login is done by ?login billing_sysop_password.

Press Shift+F12 to close subbill properly so it saves scores. Also set [Arena] SpawnKeepScores=1 in server.ini to save subarena scores (only pub scores go to the biller).

This somewhat puzzels me.
To my knowledge there have only been two publicly released versions of SubBill (that being VIE's biller) and I don't recall there being much of a variation between them other than some minor fix or another, perhaps a security leak plug or so.

The VIE biller was actually more functional, I do believe.
Subbill in itself had much of lying ground work for future features (player search, SQL support and others).

SpecShip, there is the SubBill that is in the sever.zip on shanky.com/server which is considered as the "basic" biller. Then there is the ones on catid.ssihosting.com that have all these added commands.

Those aren't subbill, neither technically nor by name.
If memory serves me correctly, CatID's biller is called SSBiller2.

SubBill = Subspace Biller
SSBiller = Subspace Biller
SSB = Subspace Biller

But the "2" designates catid's. But yes, you should use catid's if you're not.

I'm not interested in what is considered by you or your make believe convention-making newbish friends.
I deal with facts.

Facts are:
SubBill was created by VIE (JeffP).
SubBill is not a "basic" biller, it is what it is.
There are no "added commands" billers.
There are other billing softwares (not exactly billing at that, but they follow the biller's namesake due to emulating player-handling/subgame-DB relay core functions), made on their own by third parties from scratch, with their own sets of commands.

I once had this problem.... it was because I wasn't pressing 'Q' to exit the biller. Now I do and all is well. (Normally it saves to file every so many minutes, but early on I was resetting it way before it got to save to file) Pressing 'Q' ensures it saves to file.

I don't think 'Q' works on subbill.

Ctrl + C does.

Thanks.

But Shift+F12 is, as far as I know, the only safe way to do it.

Which is the method to terminate the biller and don't have your scores saved to the .dat files. Aka, don't use Ctrl + C method.
