Post subject: Windows Server 2003
If youve read my FTP software post, you probably know my server/router is running Windows Server 2003. Almost everything is identical to XP Pro, except for a few things which I cant seem to find:

-When logging off any user (locally or remotely) the modem disconnects. Since dialing up takes roughly 45 minutes and my entire network shares this awful connection, I would like to avoid having the modem disconnect as much as possible. Just so its clear: Once logged off, the modem will reconnect as soon as another machine attempts to use the intarweb, but its annoying to kill my internet connection whenever I need to do any admin type stuff.
I dont remember if there was an option I changed in XP Pro to disable this behavior, but I know it didnt kill the modem when logging off.

I forgot the other one(s) while writing this, and Im sure they werent important anyway. Ill edit this topic as I remember other stupid things I cant find.

Nevermind, with the power of google, I found the answer:

TweakUI has the ability to toggle the super-hidden registry keys. I dont know what these keys are, though.

If you're still interested in what these keys are, get RegMon from sysinternals.com (it might still be a pain to see, though).

Nah. Only thing Im concerned with at this point is fixing the goddamn RPC and LSASS services. The machines been restarting every 20 minutes because of those services crashing.

That's exactly what I thought after reading your post, Cerium, check for the "Blaster" worm. sa_tongue.gif

Probably. The system itself is ok, but the random worm attacks on it every now and then were killing it. Now that Ive got the service packs installed, it gleefully ignores them.

Microsoft 101: Never plug a fresh install of windows to a public interface.

I used to so I could just download the drivers for the install, until I accidently spelled microsoft wrong when going for updates and getting nailed with like 5 random worms... format/reinstall.

He is right, you know.
Always connect the fresh PC to a secured LAN, d/l via one of the LAN terminals what necessary upgrades you need (personaly, I just keep all of them on a flash drive readily available) and transfer them to the new install.

Like I care. After adding two lines to autoexec.bat, the machine ran by itself during the updates. Every 20 minutes RPC would crash and restart the machine; then autoexec would redial and resume updating. Considering I have to restart my retarded dialup connection on a regular basis, the super-scary worms actually did me a favor. Thanks msblaster!

Also:
phong, "microsoft.com" doesnt contain the letters g, a, y, e, or x, you fat-fingered dummy. Learn to control those sausage links a little better and you wont find yourself having to format/reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

You took your built up fat aggression and anger with me and lashed out at an entire community -- much like prime but on a significantly smaller scale. Aside from hunting you down and murdering you for being a worthless addition to society, this is all I care to do to you since it works much like Chinese water torture -- and dont even try that childish "it doesnt bother me" bullshit, because you wouldnt waste time with your half-assed 'obsession' responses if it didnt.

Now, make with the killing of yourself. Feel free to use any of the methods I have told you to use in the past.
