ASSS Questions - OEM Ban in AS3? BDwinsAlt - Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:17 pm Post subject: OEM Ban in AS3?
Is their a way to get ASSS to be able to ban by windows OEM. This would be useful in the banning system. It seems anyone can change volumeid, ip, and macid. I changed my mac id eariler today, i've changed my volume id b4, and if i had dsl i could change ip by simple restarting modem. Why not make a stronger banning system. Stop Sai Saici and those noobs from accessing the zone. I know i should post this on a continuum suggestion or something, i figured it would be better listened to here. You can change ur oem i know. But not many people feel like going into their registry and figuring it out or reinstalling windows. Some people don;t know how to do that either.

You can't ban on anything the client doesn't send and as far as I know Continuum doesn't send whatever you're talking about. There's some stuff in the 0x24 login packet that might be useful for bans, but "nobody" knows what it is. There's also some somewhat useful stuff in the registration form, but only SSC does that.

Ban by Original Equipment Manufacturer?
OEM means something was supplied by the computer manufacturer. For example, an OEM copy of windows wouldn't be sold down the street at Best Buy. It would only come packaged with a computer.
NOTE: I know that this isn't 100% true (one can buy OEM software seperately), but I'm just trying to get the general point across that he doesn't know what he's talking about.
If you mean windows serial number or cd key, then there are tons of issues you'll run into. The most significant of course is that it'll never happen without a client update, and won't happen even then.

aussie243, the biller should handle aliases (name, ip changed, etc) so one ban covers them all.
