Post subject: sysop/smod/mod login

in my zone for sysop/smod/mod's to login they only need to have the pw and dont have to be in the sysop/smod/mod text, how do i change this so they have to be in it, to login as one.

this what i have set in my server.ini file under validation

Change the CheckMod, CheckSmod, and CheckSysop to 1. Then add their names to the correct files.

If you change CheckMod to 1, then mods no longer need the moderator password. They'll be logged in as a mod as soon as they enter the zone. This, in my mind, it a good thing, but it has its drawbacks. Even with checking enabled, the mod password can give non-mods some mod abilities. Because of this, you should set the mod password in the file to random junk and not give it out to anyone.

NOTE: This post is from memory. It's been a while since I've used subgame, so forgive me if I got this wrong.

The passwords are only a necessity for when the biller is down.

thanks for all your help peoples, i take it that if it's set to one than the pw is only good if you want someone to have powers if their not in the texts

i changed thoes values to 1 but i still need the pw's to login as mod/smod/sysop is their somthing elce that needs to be changed as well or could it be the biller, i'm using the one that comes in with the server download for testing but when its up it will be on a new one.

Only mods log in automatically. Sysops and Smods still need the password.

The mod password does NOT let people not on the staff list have full mod power. It does let them have partial power, and because of that, should never be distributed.

Like if you are not on the staff list but you use sysop password, you cant do things like getfile and super, but you can recycle the zone...
