FYI: I have started writing the Chatnut chat client. It's about 1/3 done. It is being written in Java using the Swing set. I will test it on Windows and Linux.

Status Update: The client is mostly done, with only minor UI fixes and a few core changes.

I have found some interesting bugs in the server's chatnet protocol. One of the best is the ablity to go into a subarena that continuum users are prevented from because of naming issues

. I hope this bug will be squashed sometime. The only other major one is the lack of a difference between team and freq chats, I have worked around it, and see how the server works around it, but I feel that it would be better to keep the distinction that continuum has.

Due to some unforseen delays, the release of my chat client may be delayed for a couple weeks. However, as there are very few ASSS servers in use as of now, I do not see this as a big problem to anyone.

FYI, you just bumped a 14 month old topic.

Yes, it's ASSS only. At this point, there's no point in releasing what I had as it's not compatable with the latest chatnet protocol and there are at least two chatnet clients that are much better than mine ever was.
