LinkSys. Low budget, and its Wireless-G is awesome. icon_biggrin.gif

I like Wireless-G, but since I have a Linksys, I dislike Linksys.

As I posted before:
Your immediate purchase should be a new keyboard, as it appears you need that more than you need a router.

Though, the linksys router I just bought is quite nice. I only paid $80.00 or so for it, and it does everything I need it to do: Linksys WRT54GS
It even has pretty Cisco Systems button that lights up. I think it auto configures the router, but Ive never pressed it.

Why are people using WLAN connections as their primary internet connection for a desktop!?

I think you need to buy another one. It seems as if the return key is 20x bigger than the other keys.

Some people don't want to see network cables laying all over their houses.

Slightly Off-topic:

My PSP refuses to connect to my wRouter. Every time it tries, it times out. Anyone have any ideas or links?

@Guest: They don't have to be. Ever heard of an attic? Now you're going to say "Waaaaaah but that's too hard!" and I'm going to say "Uhh, it's easy. I've done it before." It improves the resale value of the house, too. icon_razz.gif

I have no idea what "attic" is, but I don't have any wire running through the house for my room other than those from the machines to the network hardware and to the wall sockets.

Some people actually are smart enough to get a wired network in the house and let people who were trained to fix these connections do the work.

I like how this area is covered by my WLANs, though, but obviously I only use that for when wires would be less useful than WLAN, in the living room for example.

For people who don't like having an extra networking infrastructure integrated into their house or who just don't meet the budget there are alternatives like LAN through the power lines in the house (I heard this sucks though).

WLAN is cool, but it sucks for a permanent connection. icon_confused.gif

the attic is the top floor of the house, like where you put all your storage and junk in...wires, cable wire, and all that good stuff will fit perfectly in there

Same here, but because my wireless card is in one of the slots at the back of my computer (which is about 1cm away from the wall) disrupted a good connection, I just moved the desk out a bit from the wall, and now I get a pretty reliable connection.

Of course, it varies with other people.

@Cerium: His microwave is two rooms down in a different direction. It may be because his computer is pretty much in a closet, but that shouldn't matter. Anyway, I just made him a long LAN cable. icon_razz.gif
