Still using MSVC 6.0 for Windows, and whatever latest version of GCC on Linux.

I use MSVS 6.0 to compile and MSC++ 2005 Express Edition to edit in C++.

GCC/G++ (or MinGW) for favorite compiler, but I use MSVS6 because I like the IDE.

Is there any real additional functionality? I don't do MFC or .NET. I disable all the auto-complete stuff. I don't like all the bloat stuff (27 toolbars, etc). So what's in 2005 that's worth getting for me? I bet you have to jump through hoops just to make a raw Win32 app any more.

why don't you use autocomplete? I think it speeds up programming by a lot.

I disable all that shit in Word as well. If I type "teh", I mean "teh" dammit! icon_smile.gif

Besides, 90% of programming is not typing on the keyboard; it's pacing around and thinking.

2005 to me seems a lot less cluttered and much faster. I'm also not afraid to accidentally have it open a single file anymore because it starts up pretty much as fast as TextPad with no solution. I remember 2003 as taking up to 10 seconds just for a single header file.
