Ok I'm goofing around with an event and wanted to make a CTF game like the one you would play as a kid where you couldn't kill or anything on the other side. So I want to get it so if you're on your opponents side your bullets "turn off". What would I use to get this to work?

sounds like a great idea.

You could use ASSS or a bot to do this.

Ideally with an ASSS module, you could just setup a region for each base then have the server silently ignore bullets when in the opposing teams region, making enemies seem invincible while youre in theyre base. The client can still fire, but no one else will see it.
You could even go another step further and use the position packet hack to change a players bullet level to 1 when they 'cannot fire', then restore them when they leave the base.

----------

On subgame it gets a bit complicated.
First, in the settings, set it so level 1 bullets cost more energy than the ship has -- preventing it from firing bullets.
Next, set the bullet fire cost upgrade to something negative allowing players to fire with level 2 or 3 bullets.
Finally, when the player enters the enemy base, have the bot prize the player 2 bullet downgrades. When they leave, prize them bullet upgrades.
Downside(s): Its slow, unreliable, and will spam your command log like no other; but itll work.

I don't believe that your quoted suggestion will work.

Also, if you're going to deprize the bullets down to level one, can't you just deprize them all the way to no bullets?

I dont think so. Unless you set max bullet level to 0 in the settings, the ship always has level 1 non-bouncing single bullets at the very least.

Yeah, the part you quoted is right... I was just about to go to bed when I wrote that... Forgot that the position packet doesnt say what level guns you have, just what youre firing...
Though, you could make it so the bullets always appear red to the person firing it. Still wouldnt do anything to opponents, but would be a visual indication that youre bullets are 'disabled'.

Ever played Hyperspace? I'm quite sure that ships don't need to start with bullets, even if the max setting isn't 0.

yeah you can prize people negative guns and they'll lose their bullets

With the current version of ctm and whichever version of subgame SSCX uses, it doesnt work. I can prize myself the gun downgrade all I want, it wont go lower than the initial guns setting.

Again, fuck up on my part. Thats what I was refering to in my last post.

so if i wanted everyone to start with level one bullets but wanted to have them lose the bullets at certain areas i'd have initial bullet level at 0 but have the prize give you level one every time?
