Priit tells me that things are going well with the 39 work.
Should have a test version for distribution soon. (soon =- who the hell
knows when :) )
I will keep you all informed.

At least Priit talked to someone.

I wonder how many bugs, crashes, unsynched greens/shrapnel/weapons, bad prox formulas and wrong network handling will be in the "finished" version.

And theres negative nancy to balance out any positive points this topic may have had. Way to go grav. Im curious if you could do any better on a budget of $0.

MGB, That image made me have a seizure.

To be honest, the only new feature I want is the ability to lock LVZs onto a player (perhaps by adding a new screen position type, and change the 'position' value to the player id when set to the player id position type).

if you rebind you direction keys, it doesn't change moving around in spec.
Also you need to rebind the down direction every time you restart continuum.

Well, it is that time of the year(s) again. Priit has sent a new message to Ghost Ship stating that he is busy, but that he may get 0.39 into a state to be released as to not be a Pre-release anymore. Some of the sites are working together to maybe coordinate a group release, mostly for bandwidth purposes.

Why am I bothering to say this? Because if they get my hopes up, I might as well bring everyone else down with me. Here's to another non-release of 0.39 coming soon to you, wherever downloads of Duke Nukem Forever can be found.

To help deal with the time until it is released, here is a fun image:

 Try looking through the screen.

Maybe he will finally put some finishing touches on 0.39! Then we can wait five years for 0.40 when continuum will finally be dead!

It's never been centralized and only recorded by people in text files, and e-mails ... which I suppose e-mail could be argued as a static text file.. *oOoo shiney!* tongue.gif

Every time this shit happens, someone decides it's a grand idea to compile a new list of bugs and other crap that needs fixing. What we get is a list of well known bugs and a list of features because some random jackass doesn't understand the difference between a bug and a feature.

In theory, it should only take him a day or two to actually fix the known bugs in the game and maybe a few hours to add some highly requested features. But hey, that's just my uneducated guess at how long something should take for the sole person who's ever seen the Continuum source.

[rant]I don't even get what he's protecting at this point. He's already given out the most critical portion of the damned client -- and anyone who's capable of using it is likely going to know how to disassemble it. And, thanks to it being removed from all the other shit crammed into the client, it'll make their work even easier. It's not like the script kiddies who enjoy cheating could actually do anything with the source anyway (See: BDWinsAlt or whatever the fuck that fruity prick's name is).[/rant]

Cheating is bad but they are already doing it. I doubt the people using them now know how to make a cheat by looking at the source. Why don't we use some kind of hack protection thing like other games.

because you have to licence them. they cost money. The protection on continuum is better than some of them

I didn't know they cost money. I wouldn't recommend using what ever counter strike uses. sa_tongue.gif

Ya i know exactly what you mean, if i had the skill in assembly I probably could have reverse engneered it by now.

Exists in 0.38, caused problems, removed in 0.39pr1.

The encryption, of course
Smong - Mon Aug 13, 2007 12:51 pm
Post subject:
If you're talking about fix.dll and security.dll, that's not much use without the matching scrty file, which if you have access to that file you already have enough privileges to abuse anyway.

The encryption is only one method of attacking the client, there are other ways, each with it's own advantages/capabilities.

New version of Continuum will be released in next 1-2 weeks. Priit has not forgotten/forsaken us completely, Continuum 39 will be released as soon as testing / debugging is completed. Check DL sites next week for details - Ghost Ship

whatever, you know the new client won't come out within the next 1 - 2 weeks; if it did priitk would probably need to iron out any minor outstanding bugs which would probably take him another 1 - infinity years to do.

who is actually bothering to get their hopes up?

I'm guessing that version is more like what .39 final should be... but with another name to stop all the confusion with all the other .39 pr1, pr3, beta... bleh

Is it normal in 0.40 that the only option under the "Resolution" tab is default or did I manage mess up somehow? Would be cool if I didn't have to lower my resolution from control panel every time I wanted to play tw.
sucks :S
