You will need to put your dns name into the server.ini under billing, instead of your IP.
If you have access to a linux box you might be able to use (where 123... is what you have currently in server.ini):
dig -x 123.123.123.123 to find your DNS.
There are other ways to find it also.

Probably, but i dont know of any of hand. Try a traceroute, it might do it.
Anonymous - Mon Feb 03, 2003 10:52 pm Post subject:
how do you do that?
SOS - Mon Feb 03, 2003 11:39 pm Post subject:
1) Register yourself a DNS address (like whaterver.com or something)
2) Use that address as the IP in the billing server
or do this on the computer with subgame
1) Open the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Remove the 32 on older windowses if you can't find it.
It might be in a hidden folder.
2) Add this line: put_billing_ip_here ssbiller
You can replace ssbiller with any word made of letters and numbers.
Then use this word as the IP entry in server.ini
That should make it work
Or, of course, run the biller and subgame on the same computer Anonymous - Tue Feb 04, 2003 12:03 am Post subject:
Hmm SOS .. I dont have 32 in my ETC folder so i'm going to forget about that.. BUT in the hosts folder i put MY ip followed by a space and then SubGame... THen wouldnt u put MY ip in the [ Billing ] IP section of my server.ini, instead of a word like "subgame" .. How would putting subgame in the ip part work? lol

Erm... I really didn't understand whatever you said right now, but what I said works fine
And hosts is a file, not directory.
And by the 32 I meant the 32 in system32, lol

Or use the IRC. If you connect to the server it normally replys your DNS name... In case you got one
Anonymous - Tue Feb 04, 2003 8:40 pm Post subject:
do we have to delete the 32 in system32 .. what would be the point?
Dr Brain - Tue Feb 04, 2003 9:42 pm Post subject:
LOL
Anonymous - Tue Feb 04, 2003 9:47 pm Post subject:

Anonymous - Tue Feb 04, 2003 11:27 pm Post subject:
ok i get what ur saying now SOS .. But when someone tries to connect to my DNS it says illegal operation. However, they can connect to my IP, but i cant enter the zone.

MGB, I tell you, this was a plague of a problem that was difficult to figure out. Simply having:
rather than "IP=127.0.0.1" changes a lot. The 'ignored {connection|disconnect} request from billing server' is a bear of a problem, and I had a difficult time figuring it out until I searched through the forums. Either sticky/write a HOWTO, or modify the server to change this option to "hostname" instead of "IP" to avoid confusion. Anonymous - Sun Jul 20, 2003 10:22 pm Post subject:
heres how to find your DNS :
<a href="http://www.urgentclick.com/address_trace.php">IP Address Trace</a>
enter your internet IP and it will tell you your full DNS IP
the DNS it gives is long but it works perfectly.
you have to put the DNS above instead of your IP under [Biller] for it to work
