Post subject: Another Afterburner question
I'm having a problem (with logic) and maybe you can help. See, I have this endurance style sub-arena where you pretty much only get the energy your given. What happens is that ships are allowed (just the warbird--the stunt ship--for now) to shoot bullets costing 3 (lv1) at a delay of 0, with an alive time of 1 second at a speed of 2000. When you run out of energy (without dying, of course), I'd like to be able to use the afterburners, using the negative value to slowly "heal" your lost energy. The problem is, when I use the afterburner key, I'd like th ship to be stopped dead. I was under the impression that there was some sort of option to change the thrust & speed bonus from Afterburner so you could just stop the ship in it's tracks by pressing afterburners (SHIFT). Wrong?

TIA (as always)

This is possible i kno that for sure because there is a zone that has this. Although i dont kno how to do this sorry.

The way this is achived is by setting the ships's initial speed&thrust settings to how you wish them to normaly handle.
Then set the maximum speed&thrust values to what effect you wish afterburners to cause (negative/zero max speed&thrust, in your case) and you remove speed&thrust upgrade greens from the zone.

This means that, as a drawback, ships's speed&thrust will always be constant to what they start with.

This does not, however, hinder you from allowing energy, recharge, rotation, shrapnel, weapons, etc. upgrades.

To create the "healing" effect, set under each ship the "afterburnerenergy" setting to a value of -1.

* Afterburners in subspace = immidiate jump to the ships's maximum speed&thrust setting, disregarding their current statuses.

P.S.
Always a pleasure Katie, stop by more often.

Well I did until I tried it and it didn't work. I put

Prizeweight:Thruster=0
Prizeweight:Speed=0

Warbird:InitialSpeed=3250
Warbird:InitialThrust=18
Warbird:MaximumSpeed=0
Warbird:MaximumThrust=0
Warbird:AfterburnerEnergy=-450

All it does is sit there, regardless of whether or not I use shift. Could it be because of the Warbird:InitialBounty=10 causing my speed & thrust to max?

*Edit* It wouldn't be, because thruster & speed aren't in the green. Nevermind, I have no clue.

Otherwise, I tried Warbird:MaximumSpeed=-# and Warbird:MaximumSpeed=-# and had the ship fly at a break-neck speed.

Warbird:UpgradeSpeed
Warbird:UpgradeThrust

Set those to 0. Dunno if thatll fix it though

It fixed the problem. Thanks Cerium. (No thanks go to Grav. sa_tongue.gif)

Silly me, I have broken the first rule, never assume that something goes without saying.
Should've mentioned the upgrades specifically and not just the prizeweight.
Sorry, my fault; I'm a bad CSR.

I <3 U 2, Katie.

I don't see what difference that would make though. If the prizeweight were zero, then why would the upgrade matter? You can't prize it anyhow, so what's the big deal?

You callin' me stupid, stupid?

Difference is that otherwise it doesn't work.
The reason why it works the way it does (neglegeant code work?) doesn't matter.

As a help provider, I'm supposed to explain exactly and specificaly what's required to achive something, how one affects the other.
Why it works in some fashion or another is irrelevant.

Nope, I'm calling myself stupid.

Nice cover, Grav, but I wasn't born yesterday. I demand an apology.

No seriously, you have no clue why even if the prizeweight was 0, that upgrades would still be a factor? Just curious. I'm sorta nosy that way...

None what-so-ever. icon_confused.gif

Just an apology? That's simple, you already have my heart, think bigger.

Bah... I'm more than a little frightened now... icon_eek.gif
My request would probably be a little inappropriate on these boards anyhow.
