Hey there,

im interrested in hosting a small zone server from my home...

But before i walk into trouble im wondering, how much bandwidth does it take and which ports and stuff i need to open.

I saw that a common used server is ASSS?

I havent looked at it much at all yet. Just thinking to host it for me and me mates basically (and who ever joins)

If you guys could give me some pointers that would be great

Correction, Subgame is more commonly used for server software. ASSS is still in development.

As far as bandwidth, I forget you can look on the TrenchWars forum, search for post by PriitK, he tells you how much bandwidth that TW uses estimated -- and you could probably estimate your zone to be at most 1/4 of that. Feel free to correct me.

and for the rest:
I ve got a lil server setup now, im trying to figure out how it all works.

Ím wondering though, how do i get koth or that thing that you have to collect flags setup a base and defend? would be cool to have that

i looked on ssdownloads.com for a plugin but i didnt find anything same for the shanky toturials, theres nothing there to answer it

Ik speel het niet meer, ben hier gewoon voor support voor mezelf, en ik geef het aan anderen waar het kan.

I think it's good how you figured out how the server works on your own instead of depending on the help here, many newbies wouldn't have made it without.

as for the bandwidth, i meant not how much mbs is used per month but the internet speed i need. though i think one player takes only 44/65byte.

correct me if im wrong

Also im still wondering about the koth settings or bot or whatever i need to run it

Yeah, I was saying why I put the first Dutch line in a way people who don't know Dutch can't read it or translate it.
I did it because of idiots here trying to run it through translators.

how do i hook up the server with global stats or something, i get this error when joining its not in the main database and my password might be exposed or something...

The central billing database server (SCC) is only for a selected group of zones, first you'll need to use your own biller, then you can ask some other billers to provide billing services.
When your zone is good enough you may be invited to SSC eventually.
