I had made tiles in a 24bmp format, but in order to transfer to a 256, so SSME would open it would loose alota color, is it possible for me to prevent this? IF so how?

Can't prevent loss of color. That's the definition of going from 16 million colors to 256. In a decent image editor, apply to SS palette to your image when converting, and it will do the best job it can dithering and color matching. You will get reasonable results.

Ekted I've heard rumors continuum can run in 24 bit color mode. Does that mean you can use 24 bit tilesets?

I don't know. But SSME will not load an LVL file with anything but an normal uncompressed 8-bit tileset. If you can make an LVL with a 24-bit tileset in another map editor, try it out.

There's a tool out there that can swap tilesets. So you can temporarily convert to 256 color so you can edit with SSME. Then once you're done editing you can swap your 24bit tileset back.
