Why does the bot need to listen for connections? hybrid.ini Connection:IP.

Also I still can't get it to work

Consider it bad documentation on my part. Its not listening for connections... its the address/port each connection will bind to.

Im willing to bet youre running on 1.5... Sun did a major overhall to parts of the security manager, which cause problems with mine. Only way around it is to set [Security] Enforce = false...

Ill have to upgrade eventually.

Also, for future reference... to run it in debug mode, use the command 'java hybrid.exe hDebug'.

In this case youll probably get a security exception in the 'checkAccess' function, right before it says 'connection failed'.

It won't connect for me even running on 1.4.2, is there some firewall stuff I need to configure?

What do you have set in the [Connection] Ip/Port in hybrid.ini?

What error does it give you (if any) when running in debug mode?

A few things Ive seen in the past:
-If you set [Connection] IP to a loopback address, it tends to fail. If you dont care which IP the core binds its connections to, leave it blank.

-If you specify any ports, then your connection count is limited to the number of ports youve specified (for obvious reason).

The local connection configuration is provided to help people with firewalls setup the core easier. If you dont require any special configuration, you should probably leave both the IP and Port empty in hybrid.ini.
