Sure, and what was your idea again?
Porting a game to another platform, right?
Who's talking trash about someone else's mother, eh?
Now, who's the real dork here? Reply with "I am the dork here", Spooky.
Oh and Brain, thanks for the "Solo, be quiet, for God's sake. You made your point.", that's what I was waiting for.

So it's just the fact that no one has the skills or time/energy that PriitK has for figuring out the protocols that the new version of subspace runs on?

Granted it's not a particularly complex game, but it's still a lot of work. I don't know about developing for the XBox but I can't see a port happening at all. There was a Linux client underway but it was stopped due to (I think) a combination of lack of time and the introduction of Continuum.

Yes, I was wondering if anyone could port this 8+ year old game to another platform....
And i belive you were one of the ones saying it could not be done....
And yes in the trash talk forum i was bringing a mother into it....
I never said i was not a dork though.

Qndre does have the "skills".
No, he doesn't.
Probably someone has the skills, it would take too much time and it would be too much work.
If you'd read more on how well Continuum is secured and how hard it would be to break the encryption it uses, you'd understand one of the main reasons why your idea wouldn't work.

And frankly i dont care if the game ported is an old copy of the subspace protocol or the new continiuum...
I just wanna play an old classic with network support without having to connect via live.
I dnt know what sort of new features this continium has, but when i played subspace back in the day it seems just fine to me.
I am sure you could find alot of users who would be willing to play an outdated version of subspace if it was on a console.

Solo, all i ever said was i want a clone of subspace, my above post says, i dont care what version or how secure it is.
If i wasnt so lazy i might register so i could edit my posts.
Thanks!

Heh if you played on a VIE protocol server you'd be up against 30 other ships with infinite energy and items and the ability to teleport at will.
I'm not saying it's not feasible, if someone was dedicated they could create another new protocol, but it just won't happen.

Post subject: Oh yeah....
Oh well...
Maybe PriitK will read this and find some minion to do it.
I found no prior posts anywhere about porting subspace to the xbox.
Considering this game is hacked, and the xbox is one of the most hacked consoles of all time i thought it would be a nice combination.
Well thanks for your feedback guys
Quickest 45 post topic i've ever started.

wow. nice spamming, server help.
why dont you actually tell the loser how to do it?
just get linux up and running on the xbox and use it to host a windows guest operating system in a VM, and run continuum inside that.
piece of cake :)

You openxdk does not support networking, as on the front page it says, "Networking is currently not supported."
The protocol is a nonissue since you have an open source server (ASSS) capable of handling any protocol you code for it. You don't need to use Continuum security, and attempting to reverse engineer it would be in violation of the EULA of Continuum.

Which is wierd because making Continuum in the first place is a violation of the SubSpace EULA.

Getting back to the original post and I didnt read everything so I'm not sure if this has all be said yet. You don't just write software for xbox and expect that you are going to get it to run on the system, you need specific encryption codes. The codes are a large set of numbers much like Continuum's encryption, they are needed before xbox will even think about running any software. Xbox is a stripped down version of windows 2000 with some ball-busting security rutines to make sure that only Microsoft approved dvd games are allowed to run on the system. I explained all this to the retard who made this topic but he still insisted on posting a duplicate topic on every single SS forum he could find. It wont happen, so tell this guy to go find a corner to cry in. Linux was installed on xbox with use of some nasty windows 2000 holes, I believe some code was injected into a font that Xbox uses and the code is then run so the cd can be booted and linux installed.
