You know, if no one replied to his question, I was going to leave it how it is. But instead, everyone feels the need to bump a topic even more by talking about how someone else bumped it. What he did was perfectly fine, he extended on a dead topic with a valid question.
Instead, everyone just ripped on him. No one attempted to even assist him.
Googling on his name resulted in an interview done with him. Searching his posts on the Subspace Council mailing list didn't result in much, as he was only really active in 1999 and early 2000. Most of that was discussing how bad *monitor and such were, and how he would not back a server using that at all. So, not much help there. But the interview should have most of what you would like to know.
