Is it possible to have few arenas that require player to be in permit.txt to be allowed to play? In all other arenas anyone could play.

Do you really mean, is there a way to lock arena's to only specific players? With subgame, not that I know of.
Gravitron - Tue Jan 25, 2005 2:34 pm Post subject:
Don't think so...wonder if the subgame can be hacked around to have permit.txt mimic the way it work for moderate.txt..
'Rox could probably do it.

I think it'd be a nice feature, I wonder if stag shot would be able to do it, since he's been hackin subgame lately for the .39pr3 events.

How about a much easier solution?
Abandon subgame.

I may be at fault, but I do believe ASSS has windows support.

You kno, i think i did hear that somwhere to. I iwll go check our catids and ask around.
Solo Ace - Tue Jan 25, 2005 6:43 pm Post subject:
Uhm, there's one available on the main ASSS website I think, and on catid's website too.

Alternate solution: If you have a personal arena you don't want anyone else in (For example: A Dev arena), put a Bot there (If using Subgame), and have it do *kill on everyone but the people you allow.
Complicated.. so just use ASSS. <>><

if u want to only allow moderators and higher put a bot in there and set the arena limit to 1
Gravitron - Mon Feb 21, 2005 12:09 pm Post subject:
If you can trust those you want to be there (going to tell them of it) can just make it a private & hidden (use # infront of the arena name).
Then only mods+ can see it in the arena list, so those who don't know of it wouldn't know where to go.

Grav, that's called "Private Arena"...
Cyan~Fire - Sun Feb 27, 2005 12:29 am Post subject:
Acutally, he's talking about hidden private arenas, as he clearly stated. A "private arena" is anything other than a public arena.
Maverick - Sun Feb 27, 2005 6:59 am Post subject:
Yup put a bot in the arena.
TWCore already has such a bot ready to be used. It's also easy to make with mervbot aswell Gravitron - Sun Feb 27, 2005 8:54 am Post subject:
Please do not correct me in matters regarding SubSpace (VIE) if you are a newbie.
Okay? Thank you.
D1st0rt - Sun Feb 27, 2005 9:36 am Post subject:
Didn't you say it was private too? lol
Cyan~Fire - Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:46 am Post subject:
I think I saw one for MERVBot, too. But wtf is wrong with hidden arenas?
Solo Ace - Sun Feb 27, 2005 11:28 am Post subject:
I'm a newbie, please go easy on me.
According to the post from the guest named "newwb" he wants only a group of persons to be able to play in the arena.
This means people (who are not in the "group of people allowed to play) can enter the arena, but stay in spectator mode only.
He might not mean it this way, but he posted it like that (so, well, strictly following what he said, he means that).
To keep a player in spectator mode you could send *spec twice (to make sure if the player leaves the arena he can get into a ship in other arenas again, otherwise he/she will bother the staff or have to re-enter the zone) to the player to keep them out of a real ship.
Or you can lock the arena and let the "allowed-to-play" players in by requesting a shipchange from the bot.

Yes, I said private, so?
Anyway, I was talking to freakman bob or whatever.
Public is whatever the zone's default spawns are.
Private is when you do ?go <name>.
Hidden is when you mask it by adding # infront of <name> (so it's invisible in the arena list).
Cyan~Fire - Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:44 pm Post subject:
I think I made that clear already...
And I really don't think that's what he meant, Solo. If that was true, he could just *lock the arena and make the permitted people mods.

I always considered the ?go arenas subarenas and the # arenas private
