Post subject: Big lvz unpack problem
I have made an lvz with fairly large Images, so it takes a while for my comp to unpack the lvz and 2 out of 3 times when entering the arena I get a "Disconncected to the server" message. I tried bumping up the kickoutdelay but this doesnt seem to work. What else can I try changing to avoid this.

[Latency]
ClientSlowPacketKickoutPercent=200
ClientSlowPacketSampleSize=100
ClientSlowPacketTime=40
CutbackWatermark=2400
KickOutDelay=2000
LatencyKickOutTime=2200
MaxLatencyForKickOut=120
MaxLatencyForPrizes=80
MaxLatencyForWeapons=45
NegativeClientSlowPacketTime=0
NoFlagDelay=300
NoFlagPenalty=1000
S2CNoDataKickoutDelay=500
SendRoutePercent=500
SlowPacketKickoutPercent=200
SlowPacketSampleSize=300
SlowPacketTime=50

If you want, I could hack up a program that will allow you to not compress certain files (using zlib's 0 level compression). On wave files and such, you don't need to compress it, and thats where your system maybe hogging up on.

Post the output of my debuildlevel program here, not the whole lvz.

I have no big wav files, I think it might be the two 25mb bmps that it is trying to unpack. I tried using jpeg format but I get a nasty "close to black" outline showing up around the edges.

My personal bombs.bm2 is four and a half megs. Then again, every one of my bombs have rings around them showing proximity lines. Made this a long, long time ago back when Priit was making Continuum.

Why don't you post the lvz and we can try to shrink the size for you, etc.

Will saving it as a PNG help? icon_confused.gif

If so, only slightly. The major advantage to PNG is that it uses zlib compression... sounds familiar.

subgame is known to eat processor on XP... thats why MGB suggested to me a while ago settings for the thread(?) -- sleep timer... modifying the ini to longer sleep periods

OH TIME FOR SOME CPU JOKES $$$.

I eat processor too, they're very tasty with BBQ sauce.
AMD CPU's are great, you don't even have to cook them, they do it themselves.

The arenas are up in trench now. A few people are getting kicked when they enter after finishing the download but have no problem when they try again. It is a golf game ?go frontsix, ?go middlesix and ?go backsix.

Also I found out that if I set the startinspec setting to 1 this solves the problem. Don't understand why this is but it totally solved the problem.

Because the server excepts you to enter the zone at some point in time, and to start sending position packets. If you are still downloading a LVZ, it boots you for not sending position packets. Entering in spec doesn't require position packets to be sent.
