Trash Talk - Screwing with subSilver

Post subject: Screwing with subSilver
I'm screwing with the subSilver phpBB theme right now, not really to change its look but just to make it cleaner.

What I'm wondering right now is whether the linkage of the forum/topic title is really necessary. Is there any case where it isn't recursive? If there isn't, then why is it even there?

Be careful dude. This is what started the downfall of ssforum.

Huh? Them cleaning up a skin caused their downfall? I'm confused.

For example, at the top of the page, the title "Screwing with subSilver" recursively links to this page.

I guess you don't need it to link back to the topic you're currently viewing... :-/

I use that feature every so often. Its closer to where my mouse maybe than going to the address bar. Of course, Ctrl+L/Ctrl+C is a much faster combo, but eh.

First they started messing with skins. Then all skins got reset. Then all the good ones got removed. Then they lost all posts. Then they updated the forum and fucked everything up. Then they reset skins again. Then I quit.

You get the picture. icon_smile.gif

Ah, I see. Well, unless I see a much much better skin, I'll probably stick with subSilver, so no fretting is necessary!

Anyway, right-clicking takes too much time, so I say it really is useless.

Why I've keep full backups of everything at all the shanky.com hosted sites every month.

I'd say the main reason ssforum is so dead is because it has little purpose anymore. Decent bug reports are scarce and there's only the occasional tech support question. All the other forums are meh.

I think if you run a search and want to get rid of the text highlighting you could click on that link. But I normally trim
http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=3634&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
to http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=3634

It would be good if you could link to a specific reply, rather than the start of the topic. I don't want to have to go through counting the posts and putting them in &start=.

Umm, notice the little icon on the top of every post? Try that.

If/When my old roleplaying forum goes back up, well its still up our domain is just expired and we're waiting for the other two admins to settle that, I'll post a link of it for you Cyan. We didn't do much editing to the subsilver, but he added in some of the addons that made it more interesting and functional. Like I said its down right now, but whenits back up I'll send a link.
I swear, I miss that damn forum. There was four of us as Admins, about fifteen mods, and almost two hundred members... Small, but it was a pleasent community.
