General Questions - Setting up a Subspace server Anonymous - Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:54 pm Post subject: Setting up a Subspace server
Hi all,
I am having trouble setting up a server. I have set up a server about 5-7 years ago, but tings have changed since then. I have the downloads and gone through the basic extracting and ini exiting.
1: I start the billing server - looks normal
2: I start the subgame2.exe - it reads the setup files and connects to the billing server
3: when I start the continum game and configure the zone entry to 127.0.0.1 like in the serverini file - the game hangs trying to connect and in the server window there is an error message coming from the billing server.
I am sure I'm missing something.
Thank you in advanced for any help you can give me Cyan~Fire - Mon Aug 30, 2004 12:39 am Post subject:
Could you copy+paste what is on the biller and server screen for us?
To do so, select the text with your mouse and press enter. It is now on the clipboard.

What OS are you running it? If you got WinXP make sure your firewall as been disabled.

Darnit you people, read what he wrote. He added a custom zone and therefore is only on LAN right now. We'll worry about WAN later.
So, ignore them. Also, please tell us exactly what the Continuum error message says.

Same thing, if he wants in LAN, he has to disable windows firewall, or it wouldnt show and it will give you an error.
The best thing is to copy and paste the errors so we know what comes next Cyan~Fire - Mon Aug 30, 2004 4:43 pm Post subject:
A firewall will not disallow connections to 127.0.0.1. Routing to that address should never even touch any kind of firewall software.
