Post subject: All Multi-Fire Hitting
I have (another) problem. All of my multi-fire bullets are hitting the ships. I don't think that is normal. For example, I have a weasel that has been set to shoot one line straight forward and 2 lines straight out 90deg off of either side. If any line hits a ship, it triple damages because it shows all 3 lines of bullets hitting. Any ideas?

no, that's the standard continuum behavior. I could make a sweet workaround in ASSS, but that wouldn't answer your question.

Go to any zone with multifire and try it... and you'll see the same thing. There's no way around it.

There is some neat description in the actual Subspace manual for the fantasy reasoning behind it, but I don't happen to have it handy.

All you'd need is a client that doesn't handle it in that manner. icon_wink.gif (I think)

That is what I figured. Thanks. That will make my ship settings quite interesting for play!

I don't think it does triple damage, only the damage by the bullet that hit. Also I think the bullets that don't hit and just explode in mid-air have a splash damage radius of 1, that's how you can kill people through corners.

It has no splash damage, and only one bullet from multifire does damage, no matter how many hit.

The reason you can people through corners is because of the way subspace calculates when something hits. It checks if it hits a ship before if it hits a wall, thus while you are forcing your ship to be right ON that very corner, the bullet hits you before the wall, even though technically, there should be a wall protecting you, if only infinitely thin.

How do you know this?
In TW, if you have multifire activated in the wb/spider, are you more likely to kill someone? Considering bullet damage is random and once one bullet hits the rest explode in midair.

The way bullets are designed, it will only do damage once per shot (no matter how many bullets come out). This is the same for double barrel.

You can get more damage out of every shot, due to lag, but only to different people. If within the lag time, one side can hit someone and another side hits someone else before each sees the other hit it.
