LVZ/LVL Questions - EMPbomb replace sound problem Doggeti - Sat Jul 17, 2004 3:24 am Post subject: EMPbomb replace sound problem
Ok, i gave my Jav initialbombs:1, maxbombs:1 and empbomb:1
Now I want the Jav to have a custom sound when it fires the bomb. So I put the ebomb1.wav in a .lvz with File=ebomb1.wav, loaded it up and appended the .lvz to the misc:levelfiles. But i hear nothing when i fire the bomb (i can see the bomb gfx). ebomb1.wav IS the right file to replace, no?
Pls don't ask me if the file is empty, cause it's not. When i play it with Winamp, Windows Media Player, you name it... then I can hear it.

Doesn't it have to be a .wa2 file? Or did I miss that part of the movie?

Yep,
File=ebomb1.wa2
same file format, just change the name from .wav to .wa2
Also this will only change the sound for the red-emp, for the other colors youll have to change the other sounds

it's weird how you don't need .bm2 for the ships though... like ship1.gif in the zone directory will override the graphic.

?? I already use some other replacement sounds with .wav format and they work, very strange.

Now, I am totally confused. I changed all suffixes to .wa2 but this single sound is still quiet :/

Upload your ebomb1.wa2 here, inside a .zip file.

Ok I can't test the file right now. But it is probably 4bit encoded, which ctm cannot support. Right click the file, choose 'record' then file->save as and change the bitrate to 8bit.

Mhm, I create that file like all the others I have in use. All others work perfectly but the one for ebomb1 just won't play.

No matter if I use wa2 or wav, I get same result.

I checked the ebomb.wav in ctm38 and it works ok, maybe a little quiet.

Well, if it's like that I will just go on developing the zone and hope that 0.39pre3 will be published soon CypherJF - Fri Sep 10, 2004 9:47 am Post subject:

I finally found the menu entry in my german windows that smong was refering to. that particular file indeed was 4 bit, though i recorded it like the others, hmpf. well, however, i saved it as 16 bit mono and now i can hear it, yay. thank you smong RAYfighter - Sun Feb 20, 2005 9:49 am Post subject:

You could still get different results - maybe your source files were differently sampled and the Save just respected the original. Anyways, like Smong said.
