There is a way to drag an image so that it makes multiple copies right? Example would be if i wanted a lvz image to spread across an entire map. Also animations, not sure if you have gotten that all sorted out yet, along with timers (timers= how long image is displayed for). I'm sure you have gotten the how the image is controlled + objnum and which layer its on all complete. Maybe have a console view so that you can see the energy bar and other assorted screen items -- useful if you are making something a screenobject. If a image is placed below tiles, make sure it shows up there
btw, Very impressive.

right now i only have it adding single tiles/ lvz. it displays everything. you can scroll around the map and view all your images. you can slect images from the browser and those become the active image in the option window. you can then select all the options avalable for displaying the image...display mode, layer...etc. you can then move the set brush around on the screen and click to place.

im still working out existing object selection and editing. but this will most likely consist of A) a editing tool, versus add B) a form that displays objects based on the tile referace(objects are stored based on tile referance internaly in the program) and all on screen. something like that.

thats still all up for grabs mostly since all i have right now is mostly an idea or two.

there is a special grid which can be set at even multples of 16, and guide lines on the brush and tile tools. to help align things when your werkin.
might not be working for beta, but along side the tiles there will be a lvz tiles type window, any 16x16 lvz image will get added to this form. so you could use small 16x16 images for details on your tiles. and they would all appear listed together, like a tileset.

there is no zoom, but it works at many diff rezs.

its written in VB6 using DirectDraw7

so directX must be installed to run it

i plan on making sets of tools for both the lvz and tiles. the ones i can figure out.

the screen object editor, which im not going to worry about for a beta, will most likely be a form all of its own. showing the existing objects is a good idea. but i would more likely then not, just have it draw boxes or soemthing where those things are. rather then inlcude all those graphics in a resource file.

yeah i want the layering to be fully functional. ive deep in thought about how to do it. and ive thought of more than one way. so im going to try a few and see. but im going to stick with my rather overlly cumbersome way for now sa_tongue.gif

believe me ide much rather just be making graphics and usign someone elses editor icon_sad.gif , how about our 2 pros? <nudge> icon_wink.gif if someone good at all this would make one, i would gladly stop working on mine, im no great programmer. conts been out for quite awhile now, and we are still multiplying numbers by 16 in our nightmares. so im not really out to best ssme or or any other editors.... just no more endlessly multipying, and no need to run a ss server just to look at your map. thats my main goal. beyond that....who knows.

Layering pretty much 100%.

sublayer order determined by layer/orderadded.

A sample of a background type zone.

All layers and display modes can be toggled on and off.

clicking on lvz's on screen will cause them to become selected.

Progress: Not much lately....but

i think i finaly got a clue on handling the other formats besides bmp, jpg, gif. png, tiff, on and on. i broke down and used freeimage.dll, instead of gdi+

downside is the bloated dll.

upside is that its pretty cool stuff, but i only need it for one thing. so im gonna try and switch to gdi later. this would make win95 incompatipble, for it doesnt have the propriatary support for those formats. missing that gdi stuff.

it was also sucking up an ungodly amount of ram. i new it was bad, and that i had to change some things, without seeing the damages yet. but when i saw the damages.....OUCH. i dont like to talk about it.

well its better now(1/4), but still shamefull compared to ssme. still sucks up alot more ram than i would like it too, and i know a few more improvements in that category. but they arnt my highest priority. so... having a nice PC wont hurt. hehe. the dev pc isnt 'specialy potent or anything... CrayMD 650-TB ASUS K7-v(leet MB) $$...$. 512 meg o ram. geforceMX440-64

whadda ya want....i make graphics sa_tongue.gif

anyhoo..long as this file format support stuff pans out properly. few more weeks ide say. ive got some vay-kay so well see. i also got this game called RailRoad Tycoon3, and im a sucker for good tycoon games........its all mine.

ull know its close when ya see a screen of The amazing Ds9 loaded.

Has this project died or what? I haven't heard much about it lately and, no offence to the makers, but the one running off of java is need of some real improvement plus the fact is hard to get running. I had to install java for the 4th time now because it keeps messing up.

For some people, like me, who arent so good with lvz.. maybe you could make it so they can put an image on kinda the way u have it now, but a screenobject.. I.E. zone enter screen

I've been wanting to know how to do some stuff for a long time now kinda like the enter screen..

Well... By the looks of it the program was created with visual basic, they may not be fakes, but if he hasn't completed it after almost a year after he said he would, then either it was a fake, or he got greedy and chose not to share with everyone.

Bottom line is if your going to get everyone hyped up, make sure your actually going to give the people what they want eventually. Seeing how he hasn't done this, he's basically playing a sick mind game.

I just installed Bak's and 2dragon's CLIT, and didn't give it a hard time with real LVZ editing yet. But from that single "known issue" with large images, I'm a bit scared, since an example arena in TW was not SO big... well we will see.

This Zig's editor looks promising on screenshots. Unfortunatelly that's all we can say about it today. icon_confused.gif

@Bak: is there a way when placing LVZ objects it locks down to the tile-grid, rather than precise X/Y coords when dropping, or did I miss that somewhere?

If you can't do that right now, I think it'd be a valuable feature icon_wink.gif. Align to grid essentially.

Overall, CLIT aint too bad of a java app.

Bak, I downloaded your recent version of your editor and began testing it. Whenever I opened the Omega Fire sniper.lvl/.lvz it'd just completely lock up and become unresponsive... :/ Being it didn't give me any information to help you debug, it was reproducable every time I tried opening it. (Importing the LVZ)...
Assassin2684 - Mon May 02, 2005 3:07 pm
Post subject:
same thign happened to me. I kno this might same stupid but i would do this if your importing lvz at least this is what i did. Debuild the lvz and then open a image in paint. Click some tab i cant remember which but under the tab itsa called attributes. CHange the attributes by 1 on both of them and then fill in the spot with black. Do this with each image in the lvz and then build it agin with the same ini! Then impot it into clit. This is what worked for me and i guess thers no other way untill we find the problem.

The problem was found and it the lvz being incorreclty encoded (even though continuum decoded it properly, debuildlevel and extractLvz both came back with errors). The newer version won't lock up.. I might even have it display the error so you know what went wrong.
