Is it safe to log into a zone when it says that your password can be shown to staff? It may sound dumb but i wanna make sure

it just means that your trying to log into a zone that is not running on the central biller server... I dont really think they can get your password from you logging into it since most billers use encryption on the passwords... but then again if the owner is a hacker he "could" get your pass from it... if you dont want to use your central billing pass just make a copy of your profile and change the password... use that one for non central billing zones and then use the real one in the central billing zones... this will make it so that if someone got your pass they could only steal your name in non central billing zones Smithy101 - Sat Jun 19, 2004 11:40 pm Post subject:
I was thinking that.
Or i may start a "Ghost Rider" Profile and use that as bait so they could get that on instead of Smithy101

weavil, I understand where you are coming from, but me as a hacker myself, using a kiddie program that you can get access to anywhere on the net can get you access. I forget the programs name (if I did remember it, I'd use it) and you move your cursor over the encrypted text and it decodes it. I have looked itno it. A little 6 year old can get accounts like nothing.

Maybe read this and think whether you're now going to be netbanned (j/k).

Weavil, a "hacker" could get your password by editing the biller (eg catid's) to not encrypt the passwords and log them to a file. As you said, using a seperate password for non SSC zones is the best approach.
And Donkano...even if someone knew where you lived and could get access to your computer, Revelation won't work on anything newer than Windows 98. So yes, a 6 year old who knew someone who played Subspace that runs '98, and could get at their computer, could steal your password.
