i knew you were in on it... i knew it

i once though of taking catid's old MERV and writing a plugin that runs tests in a specified zone, or one that monitors client data(stand-alone) to get cfgs by induction, boy that would cause hell, eh?

Thats mean to go into other people's zones, and rip off their settings. One of the few things the Subspace Council does attempt to do is keep zones from copying other zones.

Its actually pretty simple to create a bot that logs in, gets settings, and quickly leaves before any security checks can really be done. But thats a no-no and you shouldn't do it. Just remember that you won't have every setting, since some are keep server-side only and not sent to client.

i thought everyone in the council had died of old age or become mentally incredible and credibly obsolete... does anyone listen to them anymore... does anyone HEAR from them anymore?

mostly spawned by a "recent" post by ZippyDan on the subspace.net forums... I think there is an interest in getting that group repositioned and reenergized. I guess we'll see if version 2 will be any better than the first attempt.

ive read Zippy Dan's article (the whole thing, but i found most of the length was line feeds from chat sessions) and i was under the impression that due to the fact that councils are completely obsolete and powerless he wanted to start his own...

repositioned and reengineered = taking the same people (with maybe some changed faces), restructuring the peckingorder/organization, slapping a new name on it, with increased interest at least at the start for moving forward in some way.... At least that was the impression I got from the whole hubub and aftereffects.
