download lvztoolkit.zip

extract contents

open up your Continuum\sound directory

all of those .wa2 files are the sounds Continuum uses - and are the sounds you can replace (far out, eh? sa_tongue.gif)

they are .wav files - .wav files are all you can use to replace them (.wa2 is merely a name, trust me, they're .wav files)

so - find the sounds you want to replace by listening to those files

when you have a list of filenames of sounds you want to replace, open up notepad (or some text editor)

let's say you chose the files alarm.wa2, antiwarp.wa2 and ballbnc.wa2, you would type in the following:

Quote:
outfile=nameOfYourChoice.lvz

file=alarm.wav
file=antiwarp.wav
file=ballbnc.wav

save this text file as nameOfYourChoice.ini

yes...basically you just make a list of all the files you're replacing sa_tongue.gif

I used .wav because there isn't really much reason to use .wa2 - use that if you like, but it makes no difference

make sure your replacement sounds are .wav files
make sure they are named the same as the files in Continuum\sound
make sure your new .ini file and all of your sounds are in the same directory
make sure whatever extension you use is consistent (if the filename extensions are .wa2, use .wa2 in your .ini file, if they're .wav, use .wav in your .ini file - BUT seriously, just use .wav, punk sa_tongue.gif)

now run BuildLevel.exe (from lvztoolkit.zip)
a browse for file box will open - find and select your .ini file

now (unless there are errors) a .lvz file should be created in the same directory as the .ini and .wav files

all you have to do now is upload the .lvz file to your server and specify levelfiles=nameOfYourChoice.lvz in the [misc] section of whatever .cfg for whatever arena you like

then enter (or re-enter) the arena and you should download and then be able to hear your replacement sounds

if you don't know how to upload files or alter .cfg etc etc just post again and I'll explain it

sidenote...

you may have noticed all those bong#.wa2 files in your Continuum\sound directory

these are the sounds that play when you type %# - (eg. you type %12 and you hear that girl orgasming sa_tongue.gif)

the game only uses bongs 1-26 and 100-104 by default

you can add in more bongs if you like, just name them (for instance) bong27.wav, bong28.wav, etc

(if you use a number that exist in Continuum\graphics, you will be REPLACING - if you use a number not used, you will be ADDING)

I have no idea how many you can add sa_tongue.gif

.lvz files have a maximum filesize of 4MB

have fun, post again if you run into difficulty sa_tongue.gif

It does have a bit of history. If I remember correctly, she worked at the front desk of VIE, and did it as a favor for the SubSpace crew. It is fake, but nevertheless, amusing the very rare times they used it back in VIE days. Same as when they 'tested' *super and *ufo. But once private servers went up, the WTF?! days of these commands went away,

Still remember the first time I got to be a *ufo in the old League zone. Having Shanky be your brother was a good help back then (now it seems to be the other way around, hehe.) That is what got me interested in wanting to learn how the servers worked. Couple of months later, the CD was out and people ran their own zones.

which has already been explained

just open them in any audio software (windows media player, winamp, musicmatch, sound recorder, etc)

you may have to rename them from .wa2 to .wav

I did exactly what you said, and even tried other ways. I made a .ini file with the contents
"outfile=pub1.lvz

file=bong27.wa2"

and ran BuildLevel and made the pub1.lvz. I then edited the .cfg to include pub1.lvz, I uploaded both files, exited the zone, re-entered, typed %27 and nothing happened. I also tried recycling and nothing happened after typing %27. What am I doing wrong.

Fixed. It's because no "?go" after uploading LVZ.

Oh, I created one with LVZ toolkit which was larger (is it a bug) and tried it on my subgame. And my zone only was reachable from LAN. icon_smile.gif One person downloaded the file 4 hours and then got disconnected. biggrin.gif

I've got a question on these sounds. Is there a way to play them public? If you enter %xx then they aren't. Only are the only one who hears them.

If you are staff everyone hears your % 'bongs'. Also you can set the server.cfg to let normal players use it.

not all .wav works properly in continuum

it depends on the type/bitrate of the .wav file

yea, that turned out to be the problem. The .wav file wasn't working, I tried a different one and it worked fine.

try converting it to PCM type
8bit mono at minimum

if its lower than that it probably wont work

use sound recorder and change the bitrate in properties
