General Questions - AllowSavedShips=1 Anonymous - Wed Oct 22, 2003 4:33 am Post subject: AllowSavedShips=1
Hello, could you tell me how to use the 'AllowSavedShips=1' thing correctly please? I have tried setting it to one and then seeing if my ships are saved when I neter, give myself some prizes, leave, then reenter but all the prizes are lost. Is this ment to happen? I thought that the idea of 'saving a ship' would mean you can leave and still keep all the things you have built up.
Help would be much appreciated, thanks SuSE - Wed Oct 22, 2003 7:41 am Post subject:
it's more for if you get disconnected

If you lag out, it will save your ship for you when you re-enter. Or if you quit (or change arenas) while in a safety zone, it will save your ship also.
Be warned: If you have subarenas that may contain different settings, people can "transfer" their maybe better ships to an arena that saves ships.
Example: Public is a normal chaos settings that saves ships. Private arena named duel uses the same settings, but starts with like 200 bounty. The private arena may not save ships or scores, but that doesn't matter. Player Bob goes to ?go duel, and gets his 200 bounty ship. He enters a safety zone or forces himself to lag out. He'll then go to the public arena, with his 200 bounty.
Even worse if the subarena has "super" settings, because when he'll go to the public arena, the zone will kick him for cheating, because he'll be attempting to enter with settings better than the one in the public arena.

I've tried having the option set and seeing if the ships are saved (using *prize to givemyself an item then quitting to see if it keeps it) but it doesn't save.. is it only if you lag out then?

Might be. I havn't played with it much since Continuum came out. It may have been removed for the safety zone part, because people did abuse it like I said above.
