lots of people (aside from the sysops of EG) have copies and clones

but honestly...talk about the most easiest-to-duplicate friggin' sets of all time

Well can anyone post me a clone server.cfg file then?

FYI: you wont become insanely popular by making a clone of another well-established zone

Sysops of EG will probably get mad at anyone who posts a clone. Like Akai implied, just do it yourself.

The types of penalties that ensue for cloning a zone such as EG range anywhere from your IP banned from all server lists, to a netban for 5000 days on all of SSC. You can get into some serious trouble for making a copy-cat zone, especially if it's one of the "big 3".

that sounds too much like empire building to me...

what if someone does it better?

it's just a game... why do i feel so deflated by it????

You can modify it, just not clone it.

Why copy eg sets anyway? It would be boring to go play in a bottom-level EG duplicate zone with few people instead of going to the real thing :\. Be original...

(One Idea Deltafort)

Make your own settings. Might take more time to do original setting's but it isnt that hard when you go down the (Esc + C List) the list explain's what that setting or setting's are and gives you Example's. Plus if you do your Original Setting's it will pay off with Hosting & Population because when your zone is up & running it will be easier to get hosting and population with your setting's. Youll get population with Extreme Game's.cfg but they will only be there that one time once they see you cloned a cfg they will never come back. But Delta if you want Extreme Game's setting's. that bad. Just Clone like 2 or 3 Extreme Game ship setting's and modify those setting's a little you cant have exactly same icon_smile.gif Then you can have part your setting's & part Extreme Game's and nobody will notice unless they play Extreme Game's as Default zone for game play. Just an Idea for you, Because if you make clone of Extreme Games setting's, Your zone will have an average population of 3-5 Maximum if your lucky and thats with bot's. So that should help you a little hopefully and put some sense in your head. If you do clone Extreme Game's setting's anyway that will just give you an extra 15 years of offline Internet time work on your zone.
