the mervbot instructions r confusing...
i would like the bot to be named DX-Pub-Bot
have flagging and jackpot
have 2 powerballs
and show what commands we can type on it

At what point are you getting confused in the MERVbot instructions?
To make a bot, you must first log in as a player with that name, so create a (temporary) profile with the player name DX-Pub-Bot and set the password to whatever you want.
Flags, jackpot, and powerballs are handled by the server. (See [flag] and [soccer] in your cfg).
The bot will display commands with '!help'.

the part about the spawn txt is confusing and in the server text it doesn't have greet message or welcome note

MERV is capable of registering its own alias. In spawn.txt put BOTNAME:BOTPASS:ARENA:MODULES:STAFFPASS
So you would put
DX-PubBot:password:0:flag,soccer,rampage:StaffPass

i did that...then when i opened mervbot the dos thing, the bot didn't go into the zone ExplodyThingy - Mon Oct 13, 2003 7:25 pm Post subject:
Make sure you have the right IP and Port. Run it from a command prompt, and read the error. If it says bad password, fix the password. If it never sends or recieves data, fix the port and ip. Etc.

it works now but when i open the mervbot dos thing and i go in the zone, the bot goes into the arena thats called his own name, i forgot the command to move bots and when i pm the bot with !help the only commands it says is !help, !listop and !spree
ExplodyThingy - Mon Oct 13, 2003 10:01 pm Post subject:
Put yourself on the op list. i think its op.txt. Just type "5:existent:", with that colon. Then go in, and the bot will have a bigger !help. To move it type !go <arena>

ok, it works now thanks, but when i go in there isn't anyy powerballs, do i have to put a file in for the powerball?

powerballs are server controlled...
search server.cfg for "BallCount"

I believe periodic JP broadcasts are also handled by the server. (I don't think you need a bot if its only use is to show players the commands they can use with the bot...).

No, JP broadcasts are handled by bots. Subgame2, IMO, is incomplete without it, but...
Smong - Wed Oct 15, 2003 1:48 pm Post subject:
What does this do?
server.ini Misc:JackpotBroadcastPoints
Dr Brain - Wed Oct 15, 2003 4:01 pm Post subject:
Makes subgame more complete, if it does what it looks like it does.

I don't actually remember what that does, Smong, but I know it's not what it seems. I have feeling it screws with the points themselves, but not sure.
